The boat departing Pak Bara at 11.45 am stops in Tarutao Island and in Khai Island.
The boats departing Pak Bara at 9.30 am, 11.30 am and 1.30 pm are usually direct to Lipe island.
Tarutao: boat stops for 20 minutes. All passengers have the possibility to get out of the boat and walk on the island or dip their feet in the water. Boat crew will call all passengers before leaving.
Koh Khai: boat stops for 20 minutes. All passengers have the possibility to get out of the boat and walk on the island or dip their feet in the water. Boat crew will call all passengers before leaving.

Getting to Pak Bara pier

Pak Bara Pier is located in Satun province, on the West coast of southern Thailand.
By plane: The nearest airports are Trang and Hat Yai but we recommend to land in Hat Yai as there are more flights and many scheduled van shuttles from Hat Yai airport to Pak Bara Pier. There is a two-hours drive between the airport and the pier.
By car: Check your itinerary on Google Map.
Once you reach Pak Bara Pier, you can easily find our office counter. We are located at the end of the road, opposite the main entrance of the pier.

  • Speed boats usually depart on time. Be ready to board the boat 15 minutes before departure time.

  • Traveling time between Pak Bara and Koh Lipe for the direct route: 1 hour 30 minutes

  • Traveling time between Pak Bara and Koh Lipe for the route with stops in Tarutao and Khai islands: 2 hours 30 minutes

  • The 11.30 am boat from Pak Bara to Koh Lipe stops in Koh Tarutao for 20 minutes and in Koh Khai for 20 minutes. All passengers can get out of the boat, walk on the island, or dip their feet in the water. The boat crew will call all passengers before leaving.

  • There are basic toilets on board the boat. Contact our staff on board if you need to use them.

  • Life jackets for adults are provided on board. It is mandatory to wear them while on board. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with our staff upon check-in to request small sizes of life jackets for children.

  • Each of our boats has a defined number of passengers according to its size. The Thai Marine Department determines the passenger allowance. We strictly follow the Marine Department rules. Therefore, as there is a limited number of seats in each boat, we highly recommend all travelers book their boat tickets in advance to avoid disappointment as tickets may sell out.

  • In Pak Bara, we inform our passengers of the day’s sea conditions. As much as we would love to always sail on a very calm sea, we cross the ocean every day, whatever the weather is. We understand that passengers might not get used to waves and challenging conditions, but our captains are very experienced sailors and can be trusted. In case of very rough seas, we offer the possibility to all travelers to postpone their trip without extra charge if they prefer not to board the boat.

  • Numbered check-in cards are given to passengers, at our counter, inside the pier, in exchange for their boat tickets. Boat boarding is done in the same order as the number on the check-in cards. The seats in the boat are not numbered. Each passenger will choose their seat when they enter the boat.

Check-in information – Koh Lipe

Check-in time : at least 30 minutes before the boat departure time .
There are two locations depending on the month you travel:
During Green Season, the check-in point is in front of the school on Sunrise Beach.
During high season (from October to April), the check-in point is in front of the immigration center, Bundhaya jetty, on Pattaya Beach.
Numbered check-in cards are given to passengers at our counter inside the pier in exchange for their boat tickets. Boat boarding is done in the same order as the number on the check-in cards. The seats in the boat are not numbered. Each passenger will choose their seat when they enter the ship.

Taxes & fees

Boat tickets: the ticket fare includes all taxes and service charges.
Pier Usage Tax: all travelers must pay a 20 baht tax when they enter the pier. This tax is to be paid to the pier authorities and is not included in the boat ticket.
National park entrance fee:
200 baht per adult and 100 for children (3-14 years old) for non-Thai citizens,
40 baht per adult, and 20 for children (3-14 years old) for all Thai citizens.
Make sure to keep the receipt of your payment. If you take a snorkeling trip or visit Lipe’s surrounding islands, it will be requested. The national park entrance fee is not included in the boat ticket price.

Safety on Board

  • Life jackets are available in the boat. Passengers are requested to wear a life jacket during the trip

  • Passengers must follow instructions given by the boat captain or the crew members.

  • Passengers should avoid walking in the boat or moving around the boat when the ship is moving at high speed.

  • It is not allowed to sit on the boat’s front deck

  • All boats are strictly non-smoking.

  • We advise passengers to travel with drinking water. It can be hot during the journey when the boat stops, and it is recommended to stay hydrated. No drinks or food are sold on board.

Car Park in Pak Bara

A few car parking lots are available in Pak Bara, most of them guarded 24/7. The price is 100 baht per car per day. Our staff will be happy to help you bring your vehicle to a guarded car parking lot if needed. Please inform us in advance to guarantee a spot on your arrival at the pier.

Bagage allowance on board

Baggage allowance: 1 suitcase under 30 kilograms and one hand luggage per person. The company reserves the right to charge a fee for any extra bags or overweight suitcases.

  • We can arrange one or many private van (s) from/to the airport

  • For groups of 20+ people, booking a private speed boat is more advantageous.

Pak Bara & its pier

Pak Bara is a fishermen village well known in the province for its seafood products and for being the main departure point to Koh Lipe. The pier area is always bustling between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm. However, if you are looking for some quiet time, you will find plenty of small restaurants along the beach and a few hotels and resorts. Koh Tarutao – Tarutao island

Located 30 minutes away from the coasts of Pak Bara, Koh Tarutao is the largest island in Tarutao National Marine Park.
The park consists of 51 islands within two groups:

  • Tarutao Group to the east
  • Adang-Rawi Group to the west – where Koh Lipe is located.

There are basic park accommodations for rent at three ranger stations on Ko Tarutao and one on Ko Adang if you are looking for some remote holidays away from the crowds. As Tarutao is an uninhabited island, it is famous for its wildlife. It has one of the densest populations of mouse deer in the country. Fishing cats, common treeshrews, Himalayan striped squirrels, dusky leaf monkeys, black giant squirrels, Sunda slow loris, Sunda colugos, grey-bellied squirrels, common palm civets, crab-eating macaques, wild boars, sea otters can also be spotted on the island. In addition, the park has rich marine life. Species like dugongs, sperm whales, Irrawaddy dolphins, and many others have been observed around the islands

Koh Khai – Khai Island

Koh Khai is a tiny island halfway between Ko Tarutao and Ko Lipe. The island is known for its beautiful white sandy beach and iconic arch rock formation.

Islands around Koh Lipe

There is numerous island around Koh Lipe. Some are within swimming distance, and others require a boat ride. Most islands are surrounded by a coral reef and offer incredible shallow snorkeling spots.
The biggest islands are Koh Adang and Koh Rawi. Both of them have a National Park Ranger station. There is a campsite and a few basic bungalows for rent in Adang National Park Station. There is only one resort in Adang. All the other islands of the national park are uninhabited. All tourist facilities are in Koh Lipe. We highly recommend taking day trips to the surrounding island as they showcase incredible beaches and diverse underwater wildlife.
